Sammy Awuku chooses party work over deputy ministerial position

According to the paper, Sammy Awuku, did not take up the position because he wanted to concentrate on party affairs. He is however reportedly being convinced by some party elders and members of the party’s youth wing to reconsider the decision.

 

The National Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party, Sammy Awuku, has reportedly rejected a ministerial offer from President Nana Akufo-Addo.

According to the Daily Guide newspaper, Sammy Awuku, was offered the deputy ministerial position for the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development, but declined the position.

The Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development is now headed by Hajia Alima Mahama, following her approval by Parliament. The most pressing mandate of the ministry is to deliver the promise of local government elections which the party made during the 2016 election campaign.
