According to him,  Akufo Addo will focus on appointing competent people to “immediately manage the country and the economy,” suggesting that president Mahama has failed in managing the economy well enough.

Speaking on Citi Fm’s “The Citi Breakfast Show” Friday, Bawumia said the party would move “quickly to initiate the National Identification Scheme” which he says is very “key to formalizing the economy and regenerating taxes” in the country.

According to him, if the party assumes power and the Right to Information Bill has not been passed yet, his government will ensure its passage. "We want to move on very quickly on some of these governance areas.”

Bawumia said the country will “see a budget” that will reflect “the vision of building the most business friendly and the most people friendly economy.”

On taxes, he said cooperate taxes will be brought down to about 20 percent from the current 32 percent.

Bawumia added that import duties on raw materials and machinery will also be taken out. “We want to bring in the technology to produce in Ghana, so we will eliminate import duties."

According to him, the special import levy “is also going to go” and also the financial service VAT.

In addition, Bawumia said he will review some of the withholding taxes in the financial sector but added that the specifics will be worked out in due course.
