As the Convention People’s Party (CPP) go to the polls, the party will today Wednesday, January 13, 2016 begin vetting its Presidential aspirants.

Four persons will be vetted including former party Chairperson Samia Yaba Nkrumah, President of Providence Canada, a Canadian telecommunication company, Joseph Agyapong, former presidential aspirant Bright Akwetey, and former General Secretary Ivor Greenstreet.

The party has also disqualified Dr Onsy Nathan Nkrumah from contesting the flagbearer slot.

Dr Nkrumah, who claims to be a son of former President Kwame Nkrumah, was disqualified for not meeting the criteria and conditions for filing, according to General Secretary Nii Armah Akomfrah.

"He presented a fraudulent cheque and that was the basis [on which] the party disqualified him. The party required a banker's draft or cash; he presented a cheque. We worked around it, we tried to find a way, and in the end we could not admit him because there was no sufficient fund to be able to admit him," Mr Akomfrah explained.
