The forty, he explained, will also include ministers, deputy ministers and regional ministers.

According to Dr. Nduom, a PPP government will rely mostly on professional civil and local servants to ensure an efficient administration.

This measure, he explained will make government efficient and help raise revenue to pay public sector workers well.

He made the announcement at the 2016 IEA Town Hall Presidential debate.

"40 ministers of state is all that we need... We need to take out professional politicians from the system," he said.

"I have been a minister for public sector reform before and I do know that if we implement performance, evaluation, if we ensure that the right things are done by the public servants and give them security of tenure we can get a lot done through the public service and stop the interference of the politicians. I’m against professional politicians and I want to make sure that we take them out of the system and bring competence, experience to run the administration that will be there from year to year," he added.

"When you get to be in the position which is near the Highly Indebted Poor Countries (HIPC), a proper businessman would tell you that it is time to get lean," Dr Nduom added.

This inclusive approach, he explained, would make the government efficient and the country united to help raise revenue to pay public sector workers well.
