At the third National Convention held by the party in Accra on Saturday, the Greater Accra Regional Electoral Officer, Kwame Amoah said “at the end of the nomination processes, it is only Dr. Nduom who fulfilled the requirements. It is my duty then to affirm Dr. Ndoum as the Flagbearer.”
The business mogul was the only person who picked forms when nominations were opened in 2015 hence the committee’s decision to outdoor him as the flag bearer.
Following his affirmation, Dr. Nduom will contest the 2016 general elections against President John Mahama for the NDC, Nana Akufo-Addo of the NPP, PNC’s Dr. Edward Mahama, Ivor Kobina Greenstreet of the CPP and NDP’s Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings.
Speaking at the Convention, the party flag bearer said he will provide solutions to the challenges facing the country, including corruption, unemployment and the country’s energy crisis.
He asked Ghanaians not to waste their vote on “people who promise and do little.”
The business mogul believes that even though previous regimes have done their best, “their best is not good enough.”
“And so, here we are in 2016, a nation divided; poverty in all its forms that still persists, preventable diseases like malaria, cholera, pneumococcal meningitis and so on and so forth, are still with us. Unemployment, high taxes, dumsor; they are still terrorising us.
“And yes, we have eyes so we can see that there are some roads being built here and there; there are some hospitals being built here and there; there are some schools being built here and there; we acknowledge all of these things. But we look at all of us, we look at our lives, and we look at where we are, and we acknowledge that we can do better. That Ghana deserves better. All of us know that our lives can be in a much better place,” the PPP flag bearer added.
The theme of the Convention was "Jobs for all through competent and incorruptible leadership".
