They had earlier threatened to pepper spray the EC officials at the polling centre over the same problem, according to Starr FM.
They maintained that it was a deliberate ploy to disenfranchise them.
The Northern regional Police commander DCOP Ken Yeboah has said the officers who engaged in the act will be punished for the misconduct.
Meanwhile, the special voting exercise has largely been characterised with 'missing names' on the list.
The Head of EC's communications, Eric Dzakpasu, has told 3FM that missing names being recorded in the special voting exercise will not occur on December 7.
"Today’s exercise is completely different from what is going to happen on 7th December. [On December 7] all voters know their constituencies," he said.
"We are not expecting voters to carry their cards and go outside their constituencies," he added.
