The Adansi Asokwa seat is one of the seats that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) had targeted to wrestle from the opposition New Patriotic Party in the Ashanti Region.
Independent candidate in the Adansi Asokwa constituency, Richard Oduro Anokye was confident of unseating K.T Hammond but lost the seat.
Richard Oduro Anokye was disqualified from contesting in the New Patriotic Party's parliamentary poll and threatened to go independent if he is not re-instated.
According to him, no reason was given for his disqualification despite several attempts to seek one.
He explained that when elections were postponed in the constituency, some executives held a meeting and called for nomination of a fresh parliamentary candidate to challenge incumbent KT Hammond or possible acclamation of the incumbent.
