NDC executives sue Zanetor; want Klottey Korley re-run

According to them, Dr Rawlings was not qualified to contest in the primaries because she is not a registered voter.

 

Four executives of the National Democratic Congress have sued the party's Parliamentary candidate for the Klottey Korley constituency, Dr. Zenator Rawlings.

The executives, including Joseph Narku Botchway, Jacob Amin, Alhaji Mohammed Mahmud and Reverend Michael Kwabena Nii Adjei Sowah are asking an Accra High Court to stop Dr. Zenator Rawlings from holding herself out as Parliamentary Candidate for the Constituency.

The aggrieved members therefore want the court to declare “null and void” the election of Dr. Zanetor Rawlings, and order for a re-run of the elections.

Below are the reliefs being sought by the aggrieved NDC members:

1.A declaration that Dr. Zanetors Rawlings’ election as a parliamentary candidate elect for the Klottey Korle constitutency is null and void and its of no effect as it violate the constitution of the NDC and the rules governing the conduct of the 2016 parliamentary primaries.

2.An order of injunction restraining Dr. Zanetor Rawlings, her agents or assigns or anyone claiming through her form holding herself out or allowing herself to be held out by the other defendants as the parliamentary candidate elect for the constituency until the matters in dispute are heard and disposed off by this honourable court.

3.An order of court directed at the NDC for a rerun of the parliamentary primaries in the Klottey Korle constituency for the other two aspirants in accordance with this constitution and regulations governing the 2016 parliamentary primaries within two weeks of the annulment of Dr. Zanator Rawlings’ election.
