“We believe that Mama Lydia is the one who has been with us through thick and thin. She was actively involved in the 2016 elections, and she was able to bring on board people who were not necessarily NPP people and that widened the margin. We believe she has the resources, and she is the type of candidate that will unite all the people in the constituency to bring us victory when we go for this by election,” one constituent Nii Lantey Lamptey is quoted as saying.
However, there is another group rooting for Agyarko’s current and second wife Josephine Nana Baiden Agyarko to contest the seat.

Meanwhile, campaign posters of both widows are already out, although it has not been confirmed if they are aware of it.

The late Agyarko passed on last month at the age of 61.
The lawmaker was reportedly battling with an illness and had been admitted at the Ridge Hospital in Accra before being sent abroad after his condition stabilised.
However, his condition rather worsened leading to his death in the UK. The passing of the MP came as a shock, and many have since not recovered from it.
He was first voted into Parliament in 2012 and successfully retained the seat in 2016, before passing away.
