The maverick Member of Parliament for Assin Central

The outspoken MP said the move is collapsing businesses, especially local ones.

He said the feedback he picks from the grounds indicates that things are not good for President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in 2020.

According to him, things are very bad for the government and losing votes on the masses on the grounds.

Speaking on on Adom TV, Kennedy Agyapong said "It is my party, yes, but the way we want to make our money from taxes, trust me it will affect us!

"Our elders have said if you cut your tongue and eat it, you have not eaten any meat… Chaa, when you see the duties I am paying at Tema Ports, man! you have no idea!"

He advised the government to put in stringent measures to arrest skyrocketing taxes, most of which he believes are illegal adding that high taxes doesn't make sense and collapsing many businesses.

"My own brother Kofi Nti, his CTN whatever, it won’t help. I know this from my Assin Dompem LA Middle school economics. CTN (Cargo Tracking Note) will collapse Ghana’s economy … my economics is simple, when you put a high premium on items, you discourage a lot of people from buying it. When you put a lower premium you attract a lot of people to buy because you have a lot of people buying, you have a lot revenue.

"They should remember, everywhere in the world campaign is based on taxes. They should go and check the record of Democrats and Republicans history.. our elders have said if you cut your tongue and eat it, you have not eaten any meat… Chaa!… when you see the duties I am paying at Tema Ports, man! you have no idea.. and the man (Prof Peter Quartey) has said it.

However, Nana Addo has declared that his margin of victory in the 2020 elections will be wider than that of 2016.

He said he will beat whoever his main opponent will be by more than the one million votes margin which he recorded in 2016.
