The NDC MP questioned the president's assertion of saving the state huge sums of money by canceling numerous contracts awarded by the previous NDC administration in his 'State of the Nation' address.

The president in his Address said the government has saved about GH¢800 million from sole sourcing and restricted tendering processes within its first year in government.
He said in his first year in office, 394 sole-sourcing requests were made, out of which 223 which represents 56.6 per cent were approved, and 171, which represents 43.4 per cent were rejected.
He noted that there were 346 requests for restricted tenders, and 167, that is 48 per cent were approved, and 179 representing 52 per cent were rejected.
"The savings, made over the year as a result, amounted to some GH¢800 million," he added.

But Isaac Adongo in reaction to the Address said the president was wrong in his calculations.
He said "I would like to advise members of the NPP to take their time and teach the President on basic mathematics. How can you as a government decision to submit sole-source contracts on your own, increase the values of those contracts and submit them to PPA, turn round to get PPA to tell you, you are being fraudulent with inflated contracts."
He noted that Nana Addo inflated contract prices and presented to Parliament.
"How can that be a way of saving money when you sum your fraudulent contracts and say you saved money? The only way you can save money is to go on the competitive tendering at a lower rate. You don’t just sum up what you have rejected and say you have saved money. This is basic mathematics you must be teaching the president," Isaac Adongo said.
