Nana Addo peddling lies about state of economy - Amissah-Arthur

According to Amissah Arthur, Nana Addo took over the most stable economy from the government of the NDC.

According to him, Nana Addo took over the most stable economy from the government of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo during his second State of the Nation Address has said the government has saved about GH¢800 million from sole sourcing and restricted tendering processes within its first year in government.

He said in his first year in office, 394 sole-sourcing requests were made, out of which 223 which represents 56.6 per cent were approved, and 171, which represents 43.4 per cent were rejected.

He noted that there were 346 requests for restricted tenders, and 167, that is 48 per cent were approved, and 179 representing 52 per cent were rejected.

"The savings, made over the year as a result, amounted to some GH¢800 million," he added.

But Amissah-Arthur in response said Nana Addo did not tell Ghanaians the value of all those 500 applications that were made, of which 200 were rejected but he suddenly came up with a value of 800 million.

He cited an example, that "you send 500 applications for waiver then one of them is GH¢10 million, the others are 20,000, 30,000, so it doesn’t matter whether  that one  is approved or not.  Because that one is so big that if one is allowed, you can have the nine others of ten thousand and so on that total the whole of 100 thousand, it doesn’t compare to the one million."

He therefore charged Ghanaians to demand from the President the volume of the procurement that constitutes the 500 old request that he stated in his address to the nation, volume of approval so that we can then measure the 800 million against the total value of the procurement that he spoke about.

He added: "if you send a few high values procurements which will allow sole sourcing, it doesn’t matter if the thousand others are of such inconsequential amount, it becomes insignificant compared to the large ones and so, he doesn’t believe that they have been given us enough information that by the President."
