All 10 regional Chairmen of the NDC have called on the former President John Dramani Mahama to lead the party into the 2020 elections.
The Regional Chairpersons who had a meeting with Mr Mahama on Thursday, November 9 in Accra urged the former president “to consider the request of teeming supporters of the NDC and Ghanaians to lead the party to the 2020 general elections.”
Many have since indicated that this endorsement gives John Mahama an edge over other contenders.
For some, the call by the chairmen is in bad taste.
But Ade Coker said their communique is not an endorsement of the former president.
He urged critics to be serious with their reading lessons.
“The ten regional chairmen haven’t endorsed anybody. The communique is explicit. I don’t know why we are making a hue and cry over all this thing. People should read. We make Bawumia have some justification. People are not reading," he said.
He indicated that at the regional level, the party meets every quarter to look at the problems in the party and find solutions.
Coker said as part of this meeting, they decided to issue a communique about a concern which some members of the party have and the ideal person to meet was the person the communique was about.
