The party delayed the primary in Bunkpurugu following a lawsuit filed against it at a Tamale High Court by one of the aspiring parliamentary candidates, Mr Namburi Berrick.

Gingong will now have to prepare to face the incumbent NPP Member of Parliament for the area Solomon Boa. In his victory address, he called on all contestants who lost and their supporters to join forces with him to win the seat for the NDC in December.

The NDC’s Northern Regional Director of Elections, Tanko Rashid, who described the primary as “generally peaceful,” urged all party members to support the chosen nominee of the party. He also urged all party members to check their names and other details in the voters register as the exhibition process is still ongoing.
