Court stops Let My Vote Count from picketing at EC tomorrow

The Accra Circuit Court ruling has quashed an earlier ruling by an Accra Magistrate Court which ruled that it cannot grant the permission of the police because the motion they filed had expired.

The Police have secured an injunction to prevent opposition group, Let My Vote Count from picketing at the Electoral Commission (EC) on September 29.

Per the ruling, the demonstrators  will not be allowed to picket at the EC tomorrow.

The court also restricted the group from embarking on any demonstration until October.

The group scheduled their next demonstration aimed at pushing the EC to create a new voters' register ahead of the 2016 elections for tomorrow, Tuesday, September 29.The Police have, however, insisted that the objective of the group in insisting on picketing at the EC office is to cause damage to the equipment of the electoral body.
