Doe Adjaho said he believes in the President Mahama-Amissah-Arthur ticket to win the 2016 general elections

The Speaker of Parliament Edward Doe Adjaho has urged President John Mahama to maintain Vice President Paa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur as his running mate in the 2016 elections.

According to him, he has a "longstanding relationship with the Vice-President spanning over 30 years."

Doe Adjaho who is London with the Majority Leader Alban Bagbin, Minority Leader Osei-Kyei Mensah-Bonsu and spoke to a London-based newspaper, The Herald said, "I won’t compete with my former lecturer for any position including the position of the Vice-President of Ghana."

A pressure calling itself Volta Youth for Development says President John Mahama should replace Amissah-Arthur with the Doe Adjaho, as his running mate ahead of the 2016 elections.

According to the youth, "Ghanaians have seen Amissah Arthur to be very 'incompetent' as the Vice President to President Mahama and so, our believe which has sprung out of a research is that, his pair again with President Mahama as his running mate can only reduce the votes of NDC drastically."

The group in statement said the continuous strong support of NDC by Voltarians despite the neglect in developmental projects, the youth deemed it necessary for Mahama to "console" the region with a running mate position.

But the Speaker of Parliament opined and said he believes in the President Mahama-Amissah-Arthur ticket to win the 2016 general elections, stressing "Vice-President Kwesi Amissah-Arthur and several of his associates are aware of my stance."

He described the group’s motive as “sinister”, adding it should desist from using his name in their “narrow-minded” political quest.

Majority Chief Whip Alhaji Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak, Minority Chief Whip Dan Kweku Botwe, the Clerk of Parliament, Emmanuel Anyimadu and several other staff of Parliament are part of the delegation on the invitation of the British Parliament through Westminster Foundation for Democracy.
