Prof. Oquaye: I am ready to serve as speaker

The former legislator for the Dome-Kwabenya Constituency and Deputy Speaker of parliament made this known as a press briefing after the party's National Executive Committee Meeting Thursday.

The meeting reviewed the party's campaign strategies and also received up to date information on the work of the transition team.

He said: "We came to discuss matters concerning our party. You know we have got victory; we must definitely sit down and see what some of the implications of the elections are.

"We looked at matters concerning the transition, and new instructions were given to regional chairmen, so that they would coordinate everything concerning the transition in a nice, efficient and peaceful manner, until we take over for our new President."

"If given I will do what I have to do in the name of God.”

On Saturday, Citi FM reported that its sources at the NPP headquarters say the respected former legislator and a Reverend Minister has been named as the Speaker of Parliament by the president-elect.

The reported also added Dominic Nitiwul, MP for Bimbila and Ambrose Dery, MP-elect for Nandom Constituency have been appointed to the Miniseries of Defense and Interior respectively.
