According to him, Government has not appointed a new leader for state owned Goil.

Government’s response is in connection with a press statement issued by Professor William Asumaning, the Board Chairman of GOIL, on Saturday February 25 in relation to a purported appointment of a new CEO of the company by the president. In the statement Professor Assumaning accused Akufo-Addo of breaking protocols in his appointment of Mr Osei Prempeh as the new CEO of the company.According to Professor Asumaning, GOIL is a public listed company on the Ghana Stock Exchange with its own regulations which makes it impossible for the president to appoint or dismiss a CEO without observing the necessary procedures.

The statement by the Board Chair was unfortunate and completely needless, to say the least,” the statement from the presidency said.“For the avoidance of doubt, I wish to state that the president of the republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has not appointed a new CEO of GOIL, and when he decides to do so, it will be done in accordance with laid down procedures.”
