The Electoral Commission EC has call off the district Assembly Election in Nkoranza North and South district in the Brong Ahafo Region due to security reasons.
A total number of 388 comprising of 34 females and 354 males candidates were vying for assembly positions in 55 electoral areas in the two districts.
Samuel Boadu, Deputy Regional Director of Electoral Commission confirmed to Citi FM in an interview that the cancellation was based on security threat in the area.
"What I can tell you is that there are security concerns that the police have informed us about and intelligence report indicates that it will not be conducive to hold the elections," he said.
Meanwhile, a Sekondi High Court in the Western Region has placed an injunction on the district level election at West Tanokrom in the Sekondi/Takoradi Metropolis.
The plaintiff is the immediate past Assembly Member for West Tanokrom Samuel Kwesi Anderson who is seeking election for a fourth time.
He is suing the EC for unlawful disqualification.
The district, regional and the national EC offices have been served with the writ accordingly.
Samuel Kwesi Anderson was disqualified on the basis of falsifying his Academic certificate.
He was accused of stating on his nomination forms as an A level certificate holder instead of an O level certificate holder, but Anderson has denied this saying it was a mere error and not intentional.
