The initiative will also enable family members of remand prisoners know the date their kindred are arrested, the police station they are kept, the exact court presiding over the case and their next court appearance.
Mr Kobby Acheampong, the new Administrator of GIFEC, speaking at a press soiree in Accra, said the initiative is to track remand prisoners who have been forgotten.
The system to be developed would be handled by institutions like the judiciary, Ghana Prisons Service and the Ghana Police Service.

He said GIFEC has discussed the initiative with the Parliamentary Select Committee on Security and they are in the process of developing the guidelines to roll-out the programme.
GIFEC has been in operation since 2005. Its mandate among others is to provide access to electronic services including ICT, broadcasting, internet, multimedia services and basic technology to the under-served communities in Ghana.
