The abandoned baby in China

This story is just sad. Police in China are on the hunt for the mother of a new born baby girl who was discovered in a Beijing toilet.

She was found wedged face down in a toilet after residents in the neighbourhood heard her crying in the public toilet within the area. They notified the police who came to pick her.

"Her head was upside down and her body was falling into the drain. We could only vaguely see her feet from the side," said Qian Feng, the local police chief.

The police chief disclosed that their initial plans was to break down the toilet because the structure of the drain was not known. They ditched that idea because it was going to take time for them to rescue the baby.

Qian who was on his knees put his hand in the drain and pulled her out.

"She just kept crying. I looked again, and thought we should try to pull her out even if the possibility might be slim. There is a right-angled pipe inside the train, and the baby was almost trapped in the horizontal pipe," Qian told the Beijing Times.

When she was pulled out the residents who heard her cries before calling the police wrapped and sent her to a hospital nearby.

Yesterday (August 3) she had no physical defects and was in a stable condition.
