Mahama To Seek Buhari’s Help On How To Solve Dumsor

There is no doubt that Ghanaians are reeling under the agonizing and severest power crisis in the nation’s history which is having direct effect on businesses.

The government according to President John Mahama is steadily getting its house in order regarding the final resolution of the current energy crisis that has come about as a result of many years of lip service paid to the sector by successive regimes.

The power crisis, popularly called “dumsor” may not be over soon.

With the election of Gen Muhammadu Buhari as president-elect of Nigeria, John Mahama is expected to seek help from the ex-military ruler in solving the power crisis.

On Monday 30, 2015, reports indicate that Nigeria has cut gas supply to Ghana over $120 million indebtedness.

The development means Ghana lost about 600 megawatts of power from the country’s national electricity grid.

Gas from Nigeria through the West African Pipeline Company (WAPco) is used to power thermal plants at the Tema power enclave.

They include the 220MW Asogli Plant, the 110MW Cenit Plant, the 110MW Tema Thermal 1 Power Plant and the 50MW Tema Thermal 2 Power Plant.
