Plastic waste managers to sue government
The association representing plastic waste managers in the country says the tax policy unit at the ministry of finance has confirmed the fund has accumulated in excess of 45 million cedis.

The 10% Environmental Tax introduced in 2011 was imposed on imported plastic raw materials, to help deal with the plastic waste menace in the country.

The Ministry of Finance has hinted in the past that it expects the required legal regulations and documents on disbursement modalities for the waste management fund to be completed before close of 2016.
The Accra Metropolitan Assembly, Kumasi Waste Management, Plastic Waste Management Association, Zoomlion, Environmental Services Providers Association, among others are expected to be beneficiaries of the fund.
