The price of sachet water is set to increase this week to reflect Ghana’s water, electricity and fuel cost hikes, possibly increasing to 50p a sachet.Magnus Nunoo, President-Association of Sachet and Packaged Water Producers who is also Chief Executive Officer of Mobile Water, told Ghana’s B&FT the prices needed to increase since electricity tariffs increased by 59.2 percent and water by 67.2 percent, while a 27 percent tax has been added to petroleum products. The Association planned to hold a press conference on Tuesday to officially inform the public of their decision, and to appeal for government to do something about the hikes in tariffs.Initially the increase will go from 20p to 30p, and if the producers do not get a favourable response from government, it will go up to 40 or 50p per sachet.
