Ghana Premier League to kickoff after AFCON

The 2016-17 Ghana Premier league (GPL) is set to commence in February after the Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon.

The league was tentatively fixed on 18th December, 2016, but it was rescheduled to clear all outstanding legal issues.

And luckily enough the biggest case that was threatening the start of the league between Dreams FC and Tema Youth was cleared earlier than expected to make the way smooth for the GPL to commence.

The Premier League Board (PLB), who are the organisers of the Ghana Premier League were contemplating on letting the league take place concurrently with the Africa Cup of Nations or let it commence after the continental showpiece.

But they have finally settled on February after the Africa Cup of Nations to begin the GPL.

The 2017 AFCON is between January, 14, 2017 to February, 5, 2017.
