GFA to investigate Kotoko-Jagodina FC friendly

The Porcupine Warriors could be punished for the failure of their opponent from Greece to comply with the rules governing international friendly.

The Ghana Football Association will investigate Asante Kotoko over their international friendly against FC Jagodina.

Asante Kotoko on Sunday mesmerized FC Jagodina by 5 unanswered goals to climax their 80 anniversary celebration

However, the Serbian side who were ill-prepared for the game fielded some local players in Ghana, including Ebenezer Agyapong of Takyiman FC, without informing his club and they have threatened to report the matter to FIFA.

There have been several calls for the GFA to take action against Asante Kotoko for playing against such an opponent, but according to George Afriyie the Vice President of the GFA, the association will study the match report of the game and take the necessary steps before coming into conclusion on the matter.

“Before GFA sanctions any football game it means the rules governing GFA and world football are applied. Because the game took place in Ghana, the GFA appointed a referee and a match commissioner for the game and they have within 48 hours to submit their reports and based on that if Kotoko has done any wrong the GFA will sanction them.

“There are a lot of reports circulating that the team (Jagodina) presented 11 players, 10 players. The GFA doesn’t operate like that, based on the match report, and then we can apply the right sanction to Kotoko, if they erred,” he told Otec FM.
