Black Stars squad NOT named yet - GFA

The GFA has called on fans to disregard all lists making rounds.

The communications director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has dismissed all speculated provisional Black Stars Afcon 2017 squad-lists going round within Ghanaian sports media.

Ibrahim Sannie Daara has described such lists as “not true”, insisting no official communiqué has been made by the GFA yet.

Numerous local media outlets have reported on players that are set to be called up by Avram Grant for Ghana’s Africa Cup of Nations campaign.

The Black Stars are scheduled to begin their non-residential camping today (Wednesday) at the St Thomas Acquinas Park, and media reports suggest that 18 players have been called-up to take part.

However, Sannie Daara insists no official provisional list has been released by the technical team of the Black Stars.

"It can't be true. We have not released any list yet. I also saw it in the media. All I can say is that list is not coming from the technical team of the Black Stars," he is reported to have said by GHANAsoccernet.com.

Avram Grant is yet to name his final 23-man squad for the Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon, with the official announcement expected to come on December 31.

Ghana’s contingent will travel to the UAE for their final preparations before moving to Gabon for the tournament. The Black Stars will be based in Port Gentil where they face Egypt, Uganda and Mali group B.
