Kwesi Nyantakyi is optimistic of assuming the highest seat of the world football governing body in the future.

FIFA will go to the polls to elect its president in February, 2015, after Sepp Blatter, the boss of FIFA decided to step down. The leading candidate, Michael Platini, the president of UEFA and Blatter have both been hit with 90 days suspension by the Ethics committee of FIFA over corruption charges, making the race for the presidency an open one, because there is no favourite.

Nyantakyi’s name has come up as someone who will be a perfect candidate to contest with the backing of the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

And he is confident that at the right time he could be a candidate for the FIFA presidency, but it needs a lot of consultations.

“Africa might as well consider a candidate. Push a candidate that can pull the right votes. I have no doubt that at the right time I could be a candidate.

“I thank people who have that confidence in me, but this needs a lot of consultation with family, friends, CAF and other decision makers in football,” he told Citi FM.
