Ghanaians like Kotoko-Hearts games than Black Stars

Andre Ayew has lamented over the poor patronage of Black Stars games by Ghanaians

The Black Stars were the darling boys of many Ghanaian football loving fans, until the Brazil fiasco, which saw the team boycott training session prior to their final FIFA World Cup group game against Portugal due to the delay in the payment of appearance fees.

Attendance for Black Stars games has reduced drastically in recent times and the team is sometimes booed in games they fail to deliver.

However, Andre Ayew has called on Ghanaians to rally behind them, as they face Mauritius on Sunday in the final game of their 2017 African Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The Swansea City top-scorer of the season in doing that pleaded passionately by saying that due to what happened in Brazil a section of Ghanaians feel bitter about them and now even prefer watching Kotoko-Hearts games to the Black Stars.

"This past one and a half year it has been difficult between the Black Stars and fans and we have to be honest," Ayew told the press

"For me as a leader and with other leaders and my colleagues it is very painful."

"When we played against Mozambique the stadium wasn't full but when Hearts of Oak played Kotoko i was in France, but monitored from the internet and I saw the stadium was full, it is painful."

"I have to be honest Ghanaians want us to win and we have been wining but we still don't feel the support."

"There are different issues that are true or falls but i am just pleading that we all put things behind us and move on and that they should support us in prayers."

Ghana need just a draw in Mauritius to book their ticket to the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations to be staged in Gabon.
