Black Stars captain assists goal in Shanghai SIPG's Champions League win

Asamoah Gyan played his second game in the Asian Champions League on Tuesday after returning from injury

The Ghanaian forward returned from injury last Friday to play in the entire duration of the league fixture against Shanghai Shenhua where the spoils were shared in a 1-1 draw.

Gyan started the Asian Champions League game on Tueday and played 88 minutes, assisting Shanghai SIPG’s first goal before being replaced by China international Lu Wenjun.

Asamoah Gyan assisted Elkeson de Oliveira Cardoso to score the first goal of the game to send Shanghai SIPG 1-0 up going into the first half interval.

Anderson Patrick Aguiar Oliveira leveled the scoring after the break but Elkeson scored the winner to complete his brace as Shanghai SIPG won by two goals to one in the game.

Asamoah Gyan’s game time after his injury is a boost to the Ghana national team, the Black Stars who will play their 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying game against Mozambique in the international break.
