Decision time looms for Gyan at Shanghai SIPG

Gyan joined SIPG over a year ago from UAE side Al Ain for almost 20million euros and scored 10 goals in his first season.

Chinese Super league side Shanghai SIPG will decide between keeping Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan and Ivory Coast forward Jean Kouassi after the signing of Brazilian forward Hulk.

The Brazilian star's 53m euro move to the struggling side means the club will have to decide on which of the two foreign players to keep in line with league regulations on player quotas.

Gyan joined SIPG over a year ago from UAE side Al Ain for almost 20million euros and scored 10 goals in his first season. His second season has been blighted by injuries even though he has scored three goals.Kouassi will not be new to the quota decision after he was sacrificed in 2015 to accommodate the arrival of Gyan by SIPG. He has scored four goals.

With pressure mounting on manager Sven Goran Eriksson over the team's recent poor form, the signing of Hulk is expected to add immediate impetus to the flailing chase of defending champions Guangzhou Evergrande.
