Mensah, 19, who has won three man of the match awards in the Ghana Premier League will replace Chicago Fire midfielder David Accam, after the latter suffered an injury last week at training ahead of his club's Major League Soccer game against Columbus Crew.
Accam was part of the original squad released by the Israeli coach but was ruled out of because of a knee injury suffered while with his club.
He sprained his knee in training with his MLS club and expected to spend two weeks in the treatment which has led to the decision to replace him.
Grant has decided to give Mensah the chance to impress with the national team after monitoring him with the local league. The youngster's performance had already been confirmed by the Ghana FA spokesman just 24 hours ago.
