Indonesia government to use Michael Essien to promote football

Michael Essien is set to make his official debut with Indonesian side Persib Bandung

Michael Essien completed a move that will keep him at Persib Bandung in the Indonesian league until 2018.

The deal looks like something that would bring renaissance to Indonesian football and the Chief of Staff of the Asian country at the Presidency ,Teten Masduki during a meeting with Michael Essien indicated his country's quest to capitalise on the presence of the former Chelsea midfielder to develop football in their country.

"I am responsible for the industrial development of football in this country. Therefore, the presence of Essien should be welcomed positively," Teten told Essien as quoted from the website of the Office of Presidential Staff.

Concerning Essien, Teten said he is a fan of the Ghanaian footballer.

"I admire your cooperation with Didier Drogba at Chelsea," said Teten to Essien who will wear the number 5 jersey in Persib.
