K.P Boateng wants to play for Ghana again because he can’t ‘say no’ to 3rd World Cup

It is for every player a big dream to play a World Cup - Kevin-Prince Boateng

Boateng was sent home from the 2014 World Cup on grounds  for  "vulgar verbal insults targeted at coach Kwesi Appiah" as Ghana’s participation descended into a fuss and is still suspended indefinitely from the Black Stars.

But he is adamant he did nothing wrong and those charges were just made up. “There were people who had a problem with me. I don’t know for what reason. They had their reason but they made them up. I think it was not the right decision that they kicked me out.”

But after a recent upturn in form at Las Palmas in the La Liga for whom he has scored four goals in eight games, more than his tally for the past two seasons, Boateng is hoping he can add a third World Cup appearance with Ghana to his CV.

“It is for every player a big dream to play a World Cup. If there would be a chance to play a third world cup I would not say no”, he told CCTV Africa. “There are not a lot of players who can say they played in three world cups. But before this happens we have to have a lot of talks because I don’t want to go back with a bad spirit. If I would go back, I want everything to be perfect so we can work perfect together.”

Boateng’s career has been tied in with world cup appearances with one retirement and a return already. He became a Ghana international in 2010 in time for the 2010 world cup before going on to impress in South Africa. But he quit a year after the tournament, claiming his body could not combine the demand of club and international football. He was back in the side for the final world cup qualifying play-off against Egypt before making the squad that represented Ghana in Brazil.
