GFA/NDC member: Don’t blame me for delay to implement Commission’s report

The Black Stars management Committee member says he is not the reason why the Commission’s report hasn’t been enforced

The Presidential Commission of Inquiry set up to investigate Ghana’s poor World Cup campaign in 2014 presented its report and then after the President of the Republic of Ghana through the Attorney General came out with Government white paper, making the report a legal document and the six months grace period after which the document can be enforced has elapsed but no action has been taken.

There have been reports that government is delaying to implement the report because it indicts some of the leading members of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and some top members of his government who had something to do with the World Cup staged in Brazil.

However, Boakye Gyan, who is the CEO of Bofoakwa United and part of the Black Stars management Committee members during the World Cup has stated he can’t be the reason why the implementation of the Commission’s report has delayed because he wasn’t involved in any wrong doing at Brazil and again he declared the exact amount he received as bonus during the Commission’s hearing.

“I am stressing on the fact that it was the President of Ghana who formed his committee and even after the report has been brought before him he has the power to ensure its implementation, so if it has not been implemented it might be due to the instability at the sports ministry,” Yaw Boateng Gyan told Otec FM.

“No one is preventing the President from implementing the report or advising him not to do that. The President is someone who doesn’t condone with corrupt practices, so there is no way he will sit unconcerned for something like that to go on.

“There are reports that because some of us are in government that is why the implementation of the Commission’s report is being delayed. I have no cause to fear, because I received what was due me in Brazil and when I returned I declared the exact amount. I Yaw Boateng Gyan, if the report is enforced today, I will never be in trouble because my hands are clean.

“Sorry to say this, people like Nyantakyi and George Afriyie that I worked with during the World Cup are young colleagues, so why should I hide behind and say because someone did something wrong, I would ensure the report is not enforced because it would indicts my friends and that could even affect me."
