Evans Adotey: Medeama aimed at killing the game in 1st half

The coach of Medeama has indicted that he urged his charges to put the tie beyond the reach of Mamelodi Sundowns in the first 45 minutes.

Medeama scored a goal in each half against the South African champions Mamelodi Sundowns on Wednesday to overturn a 3-1 away defeat to advance courtesy of the away goal rule.

Evan Adotey has stated that his team entered into the game to get earlier goals that would have turned the tie in their favour in the first half, but due to anxiety on the part of the team they wasted some opportunities that came their way.

“It is all about keeping our ambition to this level, keeping a clean sheet and ensuring we overturn the two goal deficit.

“I was worried, but the final score determines. We came with one aim by ensuring we kill the game in the first 45 minutes and that was exactly what happened. You could see our boys were in desperate mood, they were rushing and desperation set in and it caused us earlier,” the technical director of Medeama said in a post-match presser.
