Aduana Stars beat Hearts of Oak 4-3 on penalties to win the second edition of the G6 Tournament on Sunday at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi. The game ended 1-1 in regulation time.

Hearts of Oak scored first through Patrick Razak in the first half but pulled even courtsey Nathaniel Asamoah’s sublime finish in the second half.

The Phobians had a free day in the first ten minutes of the game – they dominated Aduana Stars as the likes of Isaac Mensah and Patrick Razak caused a lot of problems for the Dormaa based side’s defence.

The Accra giants continued to mount pressure on Aduana Stars and their hard work and determination paid off as they struck the first goal in the 17 minute through Patrick Razak after Joseph Addo palmed off Joshua Otoo’s diagonal free-kick.

Aduana Stars ‘ defense led by Wahab Adams looked shaky as they had it difficult to deal with Hearts of Oak’s long balls.

The “Ogya Lads” started to warm themselves into the game, and they took control of the game – they pelted the Phobians with series of attacks but Ben Mensah in post for Hearts of Oak guided his line very well to prevent Yusif Abubakar’s side from getting the equalizer.

Aduana Stars restrategized in the second half and they seized Hearts of Oak midfield which made them dominate the Phobians.

Hearts of Oak were resolute at the back curtailing Aduana Stars attacks. The Dormaa based side never got frustrated as they continued with the onslaught.

The Phobians couldn’t come to terms with the swift play of Aduana Stars, and the “Ogya Lads” restored parity in the 68 minute through second half substitute Nathaniel Asamoah after he was put through on goal by Derick Sasraku.

Aduana Stars never stop there as they pressed the action but they failed to grab that winning goal as the game ended 1-1.

In the penalty shoot-out, Vincent Atinga, Anthony Nimo and Don Bortey scored for Hearts of Oak while Richard Akrofi and Mustapha Essuman missed their kicks, for Aduana Stars Yakubu Mohammed, Noah Martey, Samad Adams and Godfred Saka neatly converted their kicks while Derick Sadarku missed his kick.
