Ghana defender on course for Leicester debut

Daniel Amartey took another step towards making his Leicester debut after playing 90 minutes for the Under-21s against Manchester City.

Daniel Amartey featured for Leicester City under-21 side as they beat Manchester City 1-0 at the King Power Stadium, thanks to a first half winner from Joe Dodoo.

The Ghana international played the full 90 minutes as he looks to boost his fitness after joining City from FC Copenhagen in January.

Amartey, who joined Claudio Ranieri's side from Danish giants FC Copenhagen in Janauary and yet to make his first team debut, was among Gökhan Inler, Leonardo Ulloa and Liam Moore, who were all first team regulars who started the game.

He is is now poised to start in place of suspended right-back Danny Simpson in the Foxes next Premier League game against Norwich at the King Power Stadium on Saturday week.Nearly 3,000 fans were inside the King Power Stadium to see Dodoo put City ahead after 14 minutes, latching on to Gray's through-ball.
