France score late goal to deny Ghana victory

The Black Princesses were held to a two all draw by France in the ongoing FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Papua New Guinea.

France dominated the first half and took the lead in the 30 minute through Cascarino, but Sandra Owusu-Ansah restored parity for Ghana in the 44th minute.

Back from recess, France were still controlling the game, but failed to break down the Ghana defence.

The Black Princesses in the 65th minute went ahead: a long ball from the goalkeeper and header from midfield ensured the ball fell the way of Jane Ayieyam, who shot the ball into the net with his first touch.

Ghana could have put the ball beyond the reach of France in the 81st minute, after Adubea was brought down in the 18-yard-box, yet Samira Rahman wasted the resultant penalty kick.

France drew level on the last minute of the five minutes added time to prevent Ghana from earning their first victory in the tournament.

The Black Princesses lost 0-1 in their opening game of the tournament on Monday against New Zealand.
