The Minority Leader in Parliament believes officials of the GFA have some explaining to do with regards to the failures of the national team.

According to him, if then GFA can trumpet their successes in Parliament, then it is only fair that they are made to explain their failures to the House as well.

“I have an issue with the Chairman [of the GFA] and the Committee members. When it is success, you are happy to report. But you have failed to report on why we failed to qualify for the World Cup having appeared and having performed creditably well [in previous editions],” Haruna Iddrisu is quoted as saying by Atlfmonline.com, during Friday’s Parliamentary Sitting.

“Mr. Speaker, sometimes our hands are tied that the GFA is independent. Independent of Who? The GFA cannot be independent of Parliament or the People’s Representative.

“If you look at the foreign leagues, what has made the EPL top earns and very exciting? One of these days, I encourage the Parliamentary Select Committee of Youths and Sports to hold the GFA to give us a blueprint on how they intend to improve the performance of all the national teams and all competitions in Ghana.”

The call seems to open old wounds between the Minority and the GFA, with both parties frequently engaging each other when the National Democratic Congress (NDC) was in power.
