The former Black Stars captain, who spent five years playing in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), is one of the representatives to help bring more investors into Ghana.

Other government officials who travelled for the Expo are Foreign Affairs Minister Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey and Trade and Industry Minister, Alan Kyerematen.

In a Twitter post, Gyan wrote: “Joined the Ghana Contingent at the Dubai Expo 2020 led by the President of the Republic @NAkufoAddo.

“It was a great experience as I represented my country in a different capacity as we woo more investors into the country.”

Earlier in the week, the 36-year-old was honoured by UAE giants and his former club Al Ain on his visit to Dubai.

Gyan was adored at Al Ain, where he attained legendary status after enjoying a trophy-laden spell at the Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium.

He won three UAE Pro League titles, the President’s Cup and the Super Cup and was also the league’s top scorer three times.

The veteran striker also helped Al Ain to reach the semi-finals of the AFC Champions League in 2014, where he again emerged as the highest scorer in the continental competition.

The Ghanaian scored over 100 goals for Al Ain and, on Tuesday, he was honoured after returning to the Asian country.

Photos shared on social media showed Gyan being honoured by the Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al Ain, Khaled Abdullah Hamar Ain Al Dhaheri.

“It is difficult for me to express my feelings towards Al-Ain, the great club that I love and adore, and in which I spent a wonderful period,” the former Sunderland forward said.

“I have memories that cannot fall from my memory, and I will not reveal a secret if I tell you that I consider it the best club ever for me, and personally, I am very happy to be back in my big home.”

Gyan, who is Ghana’s all-time top scorer with 51 goals, is currently without a club after parting ways with Ghana Premier League side Legon Cities.
