Ghana had a galaxy of stars between 2005 and 2010, namely Michael Essien, Sulley Muntari, Stephen Muntari, John Mensah, etc.

Majority of these players were very instrumental in inspiring Ghana to their first ever FIFA World Cup in 2006.

These team has been touted as one of the finest collection of stars Ghana has ever assembled in its football history.

James Kwesi Appiah who had the chance to coach some of these players believes that a coach needed few years to get things right in the era of Essien and Muntari as compared to the current team that is still a team in transition.

“It depends. If you look at the days of Sulley Muntari and Michael Essien a coach needed to bring on board few players.

“But that is not the case of today. A coach needs to scout and introduce a lot of new faces,” he told Silver FM.

James Kwesi is the ambassador for J.A Kuffour Cup scheduled to raise funds for the foundation of the former president.

The titanic clash will be played between AshGold and Asante Kotoko on Sunday at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
