German Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund has signed RB Salzburg forward Karim Adeyemi ahead of the 2022/23 season.

Dortmund confirmed the signing of the 20-year-old German international in an obvious swap for the departing Erling Haaland.

The German club announced earlier yesterday that Norwegian striker Haaland had completed a transfer to Premier League side Manchester City.

The club did not reveal how much it paid RB Salzburg for the transfer of the 20-year-old but Italian transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano stated that Dortmund signed Adeyemi for the sum of €38m.

Fabrizio Romano tweeted: "Official, confirmed. Karim Adeyemi joins Borussia Dortmund from RB Salzburg on a permanent deal for €38m plus add-ons. 🟡⚫️⭐️ #BVB

Adeyemi broke onto the European scene with RB Salzburg this season after effectively replacing Haaland when the Norwegian striker left the Austrian league in 2019.

Adeyemi has scored 23 goals and made eight (8) assists from 42 appearances in all competitions for Salzburg this season.

Adeyemi, though of Nigerian descent, chose to represent the German national team. He made his debut for the Die Mannschaft on September 5, 2021 coming on as an 72nd-minute substitute against Armenia.

He found the back of the net on his first appearance for the national team, scoring in the 91st minute, the last goal in Germany's 6-0 thrashing of Armenia.
