Ranking the top five most impactful signings of the 2021/22 Premier League season.

Emmanuel Dennis and Cristiano Ronaldo are among the most successful Premier League signings this season

The 2021/22 Premier League season has come to an end which means we can now properly review after 38 games, this time focusing on the arrivals.

All 20 teams brought in at least one new player in the summer and winter transfer windows and some of those have been more impactful than others.

Here are the top five new signings based on their performance in the recently concluded Premier League 2021/22 season.

Honourable mentions must go out to the likes of Christian Eriksen, Aaron Ramsdale, Marc Guehi, Conor Gallagher, Maxwell Cornet and many others who performed admirably with their new clubs but the five listed below were just better.

Watford ended the season 19th with an immediate return to the Championship but Dennis performed about as well as anyone could have expected him to on such a bad team.

Only Cristiano Ronaldo scored more goals as a newcomer to the team they played for this Premier League season.

He contributed 16 of Watford’s 34 total Premier League goals this season, nearly 50% which has all but guaranteed him a big move this offseason.

Spanish left-back Marc Cucurella joined Brighton in the summer from Getafe and was instrumental in helping the Seagulls to a ninth-place finish.

The 23-year old played 35 Premier League games this season and was named Brighton’s player of the season.

Swedish winger Dejan Kulusevski only joined Tottenham in January from Juventus but played a key role in helping secure a top-four finish.

The 22-year old scored five goals and provided eight assists in 18 Premier League games, adapting to the English game like a fish to water.

Kulusevski’s eight assists were the league's joint fourth-highest total by any player and he was the only player in the top 40 assists ranking who did not play a full season.

Cristiano Ronaldo made a triumphant return to the Premier League with Manchester United last summer and although his first season back did not go well for the club, he still did his thing.

The Portuguese legend scored 18 league goals for United, making him by far the club’s highest scorer and the third-highest in the league behind only Mohamed Salah and Son Heung-Min.

He was also the highest scorer among new arrivals and was quite frequently Manchester United’s saviour despite finishing sixth on the log.

Colombian winger Luis Diaz only played 13 Premier League games because he joined Liverpool late in the January transfer window but it was enough to make a lasting impression.

The 25-year old only managed four goals and three assists but his impact goes well beyond the numbers as he forced his way into an already stacked Liverpool attack to become an instant mainstay.

Diaz joined Liverpool for €45 million from Porto and immediately impacted Liverpool and aided the chase for a quadruple.
