Cristiano Ronaldo is et to be allowed to exit the club this summer according to reports

Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag remained coy over the future of star forward Cristiano Ronaldo at Manchester United.

The Dutch manager chose to keep Ronaldo on the bench for the second match in a row when the Red Devils travelled to the St. Mary's Stadium to face Southampton in the early Premier League kickoff on Saturday afternoon.

Ronaldo was also named amongst the substitutes in last weekend's 2-1 victory over Liverpool which coincided with United's first victory of the season.

Ten Hag led the Old Trafford side to a second consecutive victory on Saturday with Bruno Fernandes' 55th-minute goal helping Manchester United nick a 1-0 victory over the Saints.

Ronaldo was brought on in the 68th minute in place of Jadon Sancho but the five-time Ballon d'Or winner could not make any effect on the match with the score ending at 1-0.

In his post-match press conference with BT Sport, Ten Hag refuses to confirm if Ronaldo would stay on at United till after the transfer deadline.

Ten Hag said: “I cannot say that. We plan with them, we stick to the plan, if good players are available we will strike, because we want to strengthen the squad always and will be alert to the last second of the window.”

Ronaldo has been in the transfer rumours section for a while with the former Real Madrid forward purportedly wanting a move away from Old Trafford in a bid to play Champions League football this season.

Manchester United will be next in action on Thursday, September 1 when the Red Devils travel to the King Power Stadium to face Leicester City in the league.
