Mario Balotelli was sent off in stoppage time as nine-man Nice saw their lead at the top of Ligue 1 trimmed to two points heading into the winter break following their goalless draw at Bordeaux.
The controversial Italian striker's record of having scored or received a yellow or red card since arriving in France had almost been broken before he kicked out at Igor Lewczuk.
Balotelli had almost snatched the winner moments before but instead league leaders Nice had to settle for a point.
The result brings Monaco within two points of Nice, while PSG hit form with a 5-0 win.
It was a night of ill-discipline for Nice, with Younes Belhanda also dismissed late on.
Balotelli has scored eight goals in as many Ligue 1 games and bagged a brace in the 2-1 win over Dijon on Sunday.
His form has reportedly alerted Premier League clubs with Mino Raiola stating a return could be on the cards.
