All vital stats of the 2016-16 GPL season

These were the stats, facts and figures of the just ended Ghana Premier League

WAFA had the meanest defence in the 2016-17 Ghana Premier League-conceded just 19 goals.

Total goals scored in the 2016-17 season were 528.

Aduana Stars scored the highest number of goals: 45

Bolga All Stars conceded the highest number of goals: 77

Match day 29, was the only match day that saw all the home teams winning their games.

Aduana Stars won the Ghana Premier League title with 51 points

Four teams were promoted last season because of Dreams FC’s demotion from the topflight two seasons: Three of the four clubs suffered relegation: Tema Youth, Bolga All Stars and Gt. Olympics.

WAFA finished he first half of the season on top of the league log with 32 points, followed by Aduana Stars with 30 points.

Match day nine witnessed nine goals, the fewest for the 2016-17 season.

The highest number goals on a match day came on day 28: 26 goals registered.

Stats on individuals

The first player to score a goal this season was Joseph Essor of Dwarfs when the GPL kicked off on 12th February 2017 against Bolga All Stars. His goal came on the 11th minute.

Teye Amoa-Mensah was the first person to be sent off. It happened when his side Dwarfs were defeated 2-0 at Sogakope by WAFA on match day two and on that faithful day his teammate Joseph Eshun was also given the matching off orders, so the Cape Coast played with just nine men.

Hans Kwofie scored the highest number of  goals this season- 15 goals.

The first brace of the season was recorded by Yakubu Mohammed on the opening day of the league for Asante Kotoko against Liberty Professionals

The first player to score a hat-trick was Hans Kwofie of AshGold in a game the Miners defeated Gt. Olympics 3-1 at the Obuasi Len Clay Sports Stadium on match day two.

Kweku Baffoe Asuandzie was the first player to register four goals in the just ended season

The player with most assist of the season was Majeed Ashimeru of WAFA- 8.
