Ghana has been seeded in Pot 1, alongside continental heavyweights like Senegal, Tunisia, Nigeria and Morocco.

The other countries in Pot 1 are DR Congo, Cameroon Egypt, Burkina Faso, Mali, Cote d’Ivoire and Algeria.

In all, there are 5 pots which will eventually see the teams drawn into 12 groups of four teams each for the qualifiers.

The leaders and runners-up of each group will then automatically qualify for the continental showpiece.

The 2021 AFCON will be hosted by Cameroon, and will be see the tournament continue with its current 24-team format.

The Black Stars have not won any major trophy since 1982, when the country won its last Africa Cup of Nations title.

This means Ghana’s trophy drought will now be stretched to at least 39 years, when the Black Stars will have another shot at winning a trophy.
