The Hammers have been on a spending spree, and have already made a couple of purchases, including adding the likes of Javier ‘Chicarito’ Hernandez and Marko Arnautovic to their ranks.

The acquisitions made by the club means there will be strong competition for places in the starting XI when the season starts, with the likes of Sofiane Feghouli, Manuel Lazini, Bojan Krkic and Ayew himself all fighting for positions.

However, the Ghanaian believes it bodes well for the club if they can parade some the best players, adding that the ultimate aim is to take West Ham “to another level”.

“It’s good and I’m happy to see these good players coming in,” Ayew told the club’s official website.

“We already had good players in the squad and now we’ve added some more good players, so that’s really important for a club like West Ham to get to another level.”

The former Marseille attacker is also hopeful that the experience and quality of the club’s new acquisitions will make the difference for the Hammers in the coming season.

“I feel like we are going to be capable of doing good things but we need to stay humble, work hard and don’t think we have done it before time.

“It’s good to have players to play alongside who have played for great clubs at the highest level as they know the expectations. Players who have played in the Champions League are what I like.

“When you play with players you know have played to that level, especially when you too have played there against them years before, it’s good for you as a player, it’s good for the club and good for the fans, especially.”

Andre Ayew joined Slaven Bilic’s side from Swansea City for £20 miilion in the summer of 2016.
