According to the police, the interdiction of the officer is part of investigations into the unfortunate incident.
The Ashanti Regional Police Command has interdicted the policeman who shot and injured a fan after Sunday, December 12, 2020 premier league between Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Berekum Chelsea.

The statement issued by the Ashanti Regional Police Public Relations Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Police, Mr Godwin Ahianyo, wished the injured fan a speedy recovery.
But the police’s communique failed to put out the name of the said officer.
The football fan was shot under the left eye with a rubber bullet after fans of Kotoko went on a rampage as part of a protest against referees who officiated the match on Sunday.
The angry fans are said to have pelted the policemen on duty with stones and damaged police vehicles and also injured some policemen.
This resulted in the police firing rubber bullets to disperse the rioting fans. This resulted in a bullet hitting on elf the fans.
ASP Ahianyo explained that the injured fan who had been sent to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) is, however, responding to treatment and is in stable condition.
